Stop Shoveling Snow or Die Because Heart Attack

Stop Shoveling Snow or Die Because Heart Attack
According to past estimates, about 100 people — mostly men — die during or just after shovelling snow each year.

The deeper the snow, the more men were admitted for heart attacks. For example, for snowfalls of more than eight inches, there was a 16% increase in hospital admissions compared to days with no snow.

The deeper the snow, the more men died of heart attacks. A 34% increase was observed the day after an eight-inch snowfall, and higher rates were noted when even more snow fell. (Harvard Health Publishing)

The following symptoms are signs of a heart attack and you should stop shovelling immediately and get medical if you think you are having a heart attack:

o Squeezing chest pain
o Shortness of breath
o Pain down the left arm or up into the shoulder
o Breaking out in a cold sweat.
o More subtle symptoms like jaw pain, nausea or vomiting
o The more of these symptoms you have the higher the risk

The physical requirements of shovelling snow manually are a common cause of lower back pain, strains and worse. People are also more inclined to slip and fall when shovelling snow manually as opposed to using a snow blower.

Beyond the health benefits, snow blowers also will save you hours of time and labour r, as it seamlessly rolls through the snow and redirects it away from your driveway.

So be sure to have your snow blower available and ready for that next snowfall!!!
