Have you ever imagined that one day the
steering wheel can be mounted on the rear seat or on any section that you want? Sounds impossible to you???
Be cool, everything is possible because Nissan has created "
Steer by Wire" technology that will replace a mechanical steering system
into an electronic system.
If currently all steering control of a car is using mechanical systems, soon it will be replaced by an electronic system so the car manufacturers can put the steering wheel anywhere as long as the position of the steering wheel is connected to a cable that is connected to the control unit. This technology also allow us to replace the traditional steering wheel with a joystick.
Actually Steer by Wire is not something new because Audi also has revealed similar technology but only Nissan which is plan to actually produce it in 2013.
Reportedly, Nissan Infiniti will be the first car that will taste this technology.
