Intel reportedly is preparing a successor for i7 Extreme Edition 3960X processor, the i7-3970X Extreme Edition. But unfortunately, this new processor is still using Ivy Bridge design and Sandy Bridge architecture.Intel i7 Extreme Edition -3970X will have six cores, 12-thread design, 15 MB L3 cache, 150 Watts TDP, and comes with an unlocked multiplier.
If i7-3960X has 3.3GHz of speed and 3.9GHz turbo mode, then this new Intel processor comes with 3.5GHz of speed and 4GHz turbo mode.The new i7-3970X Extreme Edition will be sold around US$ 1,000 in the 4th quarter of 2012.
